Mari & Ramses

Some proposals are quiet. Mari and Ramses's was not — and it didn't need to be. From the moment they walked onto the sand, there was an ease between them, the kind that comes from years of already knowing.

Ramses had planned the whole morning around this stretch of coastline, timed to catch the water at its calmest. When he finally reached for her hand and didn't let go, Mari's laugh carried down the whole beach before she even realized why.

I love documenting couples who've already built a whole language of their own — the way they lean, the jokes only they understand. My job that morning was simply to keep up with them and stay out of the way.
